Dyer’s Coreopsis, coreopsis tinctoria
A delightful plant which grows very easily and is very forgiving. Produces a plethora of small red and yellow flowers which can be dried to keep until there is enough for a dye bath. Will flower from mid-summer through late fall. Yields yellow, orange and pink dyes.
Direct seed after frost, cover with thin layer of soil and keep evenly moist. Thin to 8 inches apart. Also possible to start indoors a month before planting. Grows well in regular soil, needs little care.
