Julie is available to speak at your next guild meeting, either in person, or online.
Natural dyes can be used to dye fabric, yarn, fleece and more, so whether you are in a quilt guild, a knitting guild or a spinners and weavers guild, Julie can tailor the talk to your specific medium.
Julie graduated from the Kootenay School of the Arts, where she majored in textiles. Since 2006 she has operated her own business, which has two arms. Julie Sinden Handmade is her line of boiled wool accessories, showcased at the One of a Kind Show since 2007. The Love of Colour is her line of beginner natural dye kits, which are sold online, as well as to retailers around North America, including Anthropologie and Indigo.
She is also an educator, and has been teaching various natural dyeing and other surface design techniques for almost 20 years. With a passion for indigo dyeing, including growing your own, and a focus on the classical, traditional dyes, which yield the most colourfast shades, she will bring your guild a colourful and informative presentation, with an aim of inspiring members on how they might use natural dyes in their own work.
While she is located in Toronto, she is willing to travel! Online presentations are also available.
