The yarn is a very luxurious superwash merino, which means that it is not only super soft, but also machine washable - perfect for babies. The blanket is knit in garter stitch, giving it a wonderful dense and spongy quality. This blanket is so soft, so cushy, you won't believe it.
There are two sizes:
The Stroller Blanket is quite small, around 22"x23" - the perfect size for tucking in around baby in a stroller or car seat. Much better than a bigger blanket that has long ends that fall out and get caught in the wheels. It is also a great size and thickness to be used as a play mat, and will surely be the blankie that your kiddo totes around as they grow older. This size comes with 6 balls of yarn.
The Full Crib Blanket is much larger, around 34"x52", and as it's name suggests, can be used as a full blanket in baby's crib. It is large enough to be used as a lap blanket for adults as well. This size comes with 12 balls of yarn.
THE YARN *********** 6 or 12 balls of 100% extrafine superwash merino wool #3 or light (dk weight) 21-24 stitches = 4" (10 cm) on 3.75 mm (US 4.5)
THE DYES *********** The pre-measured quantities of Alum (potassium aluminum sulfate) a food safe soluble metal mordant, used to prepare the fibres so that the dyes adhere and are colourfast Osage (maclura pomifera) sawdust from the heartwood of the osage tree, which gives brilliant bright yellows Madder (rubia tinctoria) ground dried roots of the madder plant, yielding gorgeous peachy orange shades Cochineal (dactylopius coccus) dried scale insects which are a common food colorant, which produce incredible rich pinks
Please note that the dyed blanket in the photos is not included, and that the yarn you receive will be undyed. You will receive either 6 or 12 balls of yarn (depending on which option you choose), the dyes, and the knitting pattern, and you will dye and knit the blanket yourself.
